one of the greatest things about my jobs is watching families multiply and babies grow. it's amazing to watch the miracle of life blossom right in front of your eyes. i love this family and feel so honored to watch them grow... i can't believe half of your first year is already gone! slow down, sweet baby, slow down!

i know i might be a little biased, but i love little boys. they are so fun and just so adorable. of course i LOVE photographing girls, but i seem to get more boys. these two little ones were so sweet and so different. i love figuring out how to relate to each one. i posted these two shots, because i just loved the oldest's eyelashes and i just love when little ones put there hands in their mouth - something that goes away so quickly. oh sweet babies. mom, i look forward to showing you the rest!

to say the least, this has been a trying month. from the devastating flood that took my mother's home to the motorcycle accident that landed my father-in-law in the hospital for weeks, our lives have been changed. if it weren't for my faith, i'm not sure where i'd be. i am so thankful for all the support from new friends, long and dear friends and the kindness of complete strangers for everything. it is amazing what community can do.

with all that has happened, i have not been able to put the time and attention into stirring the light. getting back into normal routines has been tough. i thank you for your love, patience and kindness in all of this!

i will leave you with some shots that my husband, drew, took from the neighborhoods that are connected to ours. the boat rescues were about 10 houses down from ours. it is still so surreal and there are people who will still need us all in the months to come. this is not just an event, this has changed the lives of so many. forever.

what? it's 2010 already?? and almost 20 days into it for pete's sake. i didn't even get a chance to send out my Christmas cards! maybe july? so i am believing for a prosperous year. for you and for this business. i am so excited to get this year started! i had the honor to attend Imaging USA this year (thankfully held in nashville!) and was able to attend classes taught by some of the leading photographers in the industry. i am bursting with new ideas! you will notice some changes in the next few months, some big, some just minor tweaks here and there. i hope you hang in there with me... it's going to be a great year!

a few weekends ago, i had the honor of doing a photo shoot for a great man! Sgt. Ken is a six-time soldier of the year and Master Fitness Trainer for the ARMY. he has devised a program for recruits in the National Guard called Warrior Fit Camp (WFC). the program is designed to target weight and training failures before recruits are shipped off to boot camp. kinda like "extreme makeover" for the military. the program includes a land navigation course, circuit training course as well as classroom instruction. it wore me out just watching! here's a bit of the coverage and shots of ken and his assistant...

have i ever said that i love newborn sessions?! LOVE them! well, this guy was the chunkiest and soooooo stinky cute. he weighed in at 10 1/2 lbs. at birth (now a hefty 12 lbs. at only 3 weeks)!!! he was absolutely a joy to photograph.

a friend of mine asked me for this recipe, so i thought i would share it here! it is pretty easy and sooooo good! hope you enjoy! credit for recipe goes to misty wright (with my adaptations in bold)... it came from the West End Community Church "the Good to Give Cookbook". it is a collective effort of people in the church and their favorite recipes.

2-3 red peppers, chopped (1 large)

2-3 green peppers, chopped (1 medium)

1 large onion (1 medium)

2 cans of black beans, drained

2 cans of mexican flavored stewed tomato (mild rotel), not drained

shredded cheese (about 2 or more cups)

4-5 flour tortillas (6)

tortilla chips and sour cream

saute peppers and onion on medium high until soft. add beans and cook about 5 minutes. add tomatoes and cook another 5 minutes. remove from heat. place a layer of (2) tortillas in 9x13 baking dish and sprinkle with cheese. scoop out about a third of bean mixture and put cheese on top. layer two more times and end with cheese on top. bake at 350˚ for about 15-20 minutes. serve with chips and sour cream!

Flower Cookie Pot

at my son's last birthday and Easter party, i decided to decorate the table with the little goodies that i made for the kid's to take home! they turned out pretty cute, so i thought i would share!

i baked the cookies with the sticks in them, then i put a little floral foam (for a lack of a better term) in the bottom of a miniature terra cotta pot, put the "grass" in the pot, stuck the cookie in the foam, and then filled it with a few goodies to secure it a bit better. the grass was made of construction paper. i cut with scissors, then crumpled it a little. i think these would be a great mother's day craft! you could make heart-shaped sugar cookies... enjoy!

this weekend i had an amazing opportunity to go to alabama and assist my friend and photographer, Heather Bookout (check her out) with her photo sessions! we had two incredible assistants Courtney (in the back seat) and Morgan (who left early for prom) and boy they made life much easier! we spent the entire day wrestling briars, avoiding the sun and photographing beautiful children! this is us at the end of the day! it was a blast and look forward to the next time...
